Finding Time To Write

Is finding time to write a constant challenge for you? If so, you’ll be pleased to know that I can tell you the one simple step to put you on the right track.

I once read that the perfect solution to finding enough time was to get up an hour early. Now believe me, I love writing, but I love getting a good night’s sleep even more; and there is the crux of the problem, but also the solution.

The answer to, ‘How do I go about finding the time to write?’ is all in the priorities.

Everyday is made up of us completing small, medium and major tasks; everything from picking the children up from school to running business meetings, from lunches with friends to a night in watching television.

The question is then: Why do we choose to do these things over writing? Why do we give them a higher priority? For most of us the earning an income obviously rates higher, but what about the other events? Do we do them out of habit, because others want us to, because we never thought of doing things differently, because we feel we should, or simply because we never thought to ask somebody to do them for us?

I truly believe that if somebody wants to write, they can. If it’s lack of time that’s stopping you from following your dream, then it’s time to go over what you do with your day and reconsidering what is important. Finding an extra half hour a day or an hour a week will make a difference, I can assure you of that.

It’s just a case of deciding how important writing is to you. Is it worth the effort of finding the time to write?
