Have you ever wondered if there’s more you can do to help starving people around the world? If so, our FreeRice Challenge may be just what you are after.
It won’t cost you a cent, but it will increase you vocabulary.
FreeRice
is a UNICEF website where you can play word games. Every time you go to their site and play a game you’re providing rice for the starving. It all sounds pretty incredible, but I swear it’s true. You play, they eat – and it costs you nothing.
For more information about how the FreeRice website works I suggest you visit their site and read their explanations. But simply put, advertisers only pay while the FreeRice games are being used. Therefore the more the games are played the more money is raised, which in turn means the more rice is bought and donated to those living in poverty.
Our FreeRice Challenge
1) Sadly, this Challenge is only open to our newsletter subscribers, so if you don't yet receive our newsletter simply fill in the box to the left of the the screen. It's okay you aren't signing your life away, there are no catches, you will just receive our Writing Information & Tips newsletter each month.
2) Visit
www.FreeRice.com
and have fun playing their word, maths, science and language games.
3) Then every time you play and win, email me to say how much rice you have earned and I’ll keep a running monthly total. Hopefully together we’ll be able to increase our tally, enough to make a difference.
It truly is as simple as that.
With so much poverty around the world, it’s refreshing to hear of a way we can make a difference that is so easy.
NB: There is even an option on their site that allows them to
keep a running total
of your rice grain score, so you’d only have to email in a total to us every few weeks or so.
Below is a form I’ve put in to make it easy to send in your total. Please be honest with you grain score, there’s no point in exaggerating.
